CONDIMENTS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS – Trophy Kitchen !!

Having sought quite an experience in a woman's zone which she wouldn't want to share; while preparing jhalfraizee, ‘tabbouleh-alternative’ stuffed capsicum cups and baked samosas, betty crockers vanilla cake, baked beans stuffed potato jackets, bhallas, dumplings, apart from the usual meals I thought of sharing the tell tale of a “Trophy Kitchen” with few more recipes.

HUSHPUPPIES/ CORNMEAL FRITTERS

Quite similar to the fritters prepared at home, these fritters are way softer and easier to assimilate. Apart from Corn meal, all purpose flour or refined flour, salt, dried mango powder, butter milk; it also has baking powder stirred in onion (preferably scallion/ spring onion with shallots). An ice cream scoop can be a boon to the shape of your fritters.

MANGO VANILLA CUSTARD VERRINES

Before mangoes bid an adieu, I grabbed this chance to attempt the verrines or the layered mango-vanilla custard dessert. The ingredients are all aptly highlighted in its noun. Canned pulp can also be used as an alternative to freshly extracted pulp of mango to be mounted in layer above the usual vanilla custard and the dessert can be served hot as well as cold. I am to have this again tonight and I believe cold verrine would do a favor to your taste buds.

MY 10 COMMANDMENTS - A Mother's Gift on her Birthday !!

It's my Abalone's Birthday. The trend is such, so we too have made this more of a ritual at home to celebrate Mother's day on MY Mother's Birthday.

In my absence I am very sure that she has tried to read my mini diary which she had herself encouraged me to develop the knack to, quite a writer she indeed is - Her first poem on Jawaharlal Nehru entitled "Karti hai fariyaad yeh dharti", I remember every word of the prose for she made me learn it, has tendency to put any Bollywood melodramatic mother to shame when she is on a roll, calm & compost most of the times, I could feel the desire in her to always check my phone or my bag for that matter, would crib that I don't help her in any of the chores yet get tearful as soon as I would stand up for her assistance, would be ready for a quarrel with me and in the night; would sleep by my side and allow me to teddy her. Would curse me the very moment I would get up to have not accomopanied her to her morning walk but believe my routine used to pacify her in a few seconds that at times she would get me a rose. I developed a habit to carry a rose with me everyday in Nashik and then in Shillong too, my mother thought I need it. Flowers always have kept me going. Any part of the day and in case you get me a flower, I would switch to the mood who intend me to.

As she turns 48 today, she has gifted me 10 commandments to follow in a married life. I am definitely sticking to it my Love !!

In the yore, this special day was celebrated as a festival for she made it a point to prepare a home made eggless cake and even today as I write this, she is busy arranging and preparing (very predictable) dinner for her guests who are about to leave Thanjavur. Fond of cooking?? Very. She called me up yesterday that she prepared Kaju Katli in my remembrance (I bear the sweetest tooth on earth possibly). All said and done - I AM A BLESSED BABY OF MY GORGEOUS MOTHER !!
It reads : AN AEROSPACE SAFETY ENVIRONMENT DEPENDS ON YOU !!

1. Be pleasant, warm, understanding and friendly to your husband. Honour your husband by keeping a pleasant tone in voice. Listen to him, talk about his day especially if it was a difficult one.
2. Do not disturb your husband when he is in office.
3. Communication is the key to good and solid marriage. Do not hide or keep secrets. Be honest, find time to sit and talk to your husband daily. Be a good listener to him. Good communication helps to build trust and strengthens relationships.
4. Don't greet him with complains and problems the moment he comes back from work. treat yur husband with respect. Never humiliate him in private or public.
5. Take major decisions about family after mutual consultation. Try to solve all issues by discussion and do not involve outsiders.
6. Be supportive especially in times of trouble. Love him through his success and also failures and try to provide reasuurance when he is feeling down.
7. Do not nag as no man likes a nagging wife.
8. Plan surprises like organizing his birthday party, giving gifts or making special dishes.
9. Express your love and appreciation often, as men like to hear the words "I Love You". Maintain a clean, decorative and pleasant atmosphere at home.
10. Marriage is a lifelong commitment and vows taken at the time of marriage should be kept in all conditions with honesty, loyalty and dedication.

Bridging the gap between Man and Interiors

Trends ahead and an advice - Don't just buy things. Buy things that make you smile !! - You would know it.

With the changing trends and the need to make lives more comfortable and luxurious, it has become inevitable to bridge the gap between the inner you and the outer you. Interiors define owner's personality.

Vertical gardening, Furry chairs, Floral decors with White background, Mismatches (Yes!! you got it right), African Interiors, Euroceils, Lovely niches, Walls inspired by various stuccos and calligraphy, Surrealism-influenced murals would witness 2013. Also, there persists a very relevant saying - "Older the wine, better the taste". Your Grandmothers always have a lot to share and the advice can lit up the otherwise idle and boring rooms.

From Silhouette to Light

New Delhi
10/07/2010

Diwali is here again as it always does.It is not merely about the ocular sensuality that fetches its place to decorate the forehead, neck, ears, hands and ankles. With Tanishq's Lowe Lintas trying to move it from its renowned Jewellery brand to real life insights (as observed in the recent ad campaign featuring Arundhati Nag) ,Gold touching its new high in the stock markets and Dhanteras round the corner it is high time when the admirers of its beauty need to realize the worth of experiencing the magic of Gold.
This insight would bring along revolution in the yellow metal's popularity even among its makers who fear the loss of their jobs with the price of the metal soaring. This year IIJW captured ravishing yester year's beauty Sharmila Tagore walking on the ramp studded with utterly gorgeous necklace which beautified it even more. The makers from Rajkot and Jaipur have received accolades for their work from recipients across the globe for their intricate workmanship in bridal jewellery. Let us grab it before it becomes unaffordable and merely a tradable commodity in the bowsers.

Step Up

All I want to do is stay here right on the floor
get lost in the night and dance like there is no tomorrow.....Familiar eh??

This is a posting primarily for Jazz.... There were times in the yester years when Jazz was considered a curse owing to its influence to drag people into misdemeanors but today it has become a rich music. The dance of aesthetes, which brings along its own beauty....I love this flamenco guitar I was listening to the other day and wish it was possible to move with the rhythm and you know why is it difficult?? It is because you cannot escape from the muse of the mellifluous music.
It has its own charisma....

"Ever heard of a note; so exotic that you want to wear it
as a ring of your life and collect it as a precious jewel in your thoughts
a music so.... congenial when you are happy,so reciprocative when you are sad
and still effectively depicts the affluence of your choice"

They call it PIVOT: Yes the twirl in Jazz is called by that name.... Open both the arms freely and put left leg behind; now get on your toes and rotate 360 degree anti clockwise smoothly.....A Jazz dancer is discriminated on the basis of the efficiency in performing those twirls and no.So this is where quality as well as quantity matters.

More such tips to come your way....Keep me posted!!
